  • 1 whole fresh dragonfruit (pitaya) Use either white or red-fleshed varieties; red provides the iconic color
  • 1 cup 100% pineapple juice Dole brand recommended for consistency with Starbucks' flavor profile
  • 1 cup homemade or store-bought lemonade Newman's Own recommended for store-bought; has the right sweet-tart ratio
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup 1:1 ratio of sugar and water dissolved together
  • 2 cups ice cubes Chills the drink and provides the signature refreshing quality
  • 1/4 cup water Helps balance the intensity and achieve the perfect dilution

Method
 

  1. Prepare the fresh dragonfruit by cutting it in half and scooping out the flesh with a spoon or blending it to extract the juice and pulp.
  1. In a blender or cocktail shaker, combine the dragonfruit flesh, pineapple juice, lemonade, simple syrup, and water.
  1. Add ice cubes and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until well combined and chilled.
  1. Pour into glasses and top with optional garnishes such as dragonfruit pieces, pineapple chunks, mint leaves, or lemon slices.
