Ingredients

For the Brown Sugar Syrup
  • 0.5 cup dark brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Espresso
  • 2 shots espresso about 2 ounces, or 4 ounces of strong coffee
  • 1 cup ice
For Assembly
  • 4-6 ounces oat milk
For Garnish
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon optional

Equipment

  • cocktail shaker or mason jar
  • measuring spoons

Method

Prepare the Brown Sugar Syrup
  1. Combine brown sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until sugar completely dissolves (about 3-4 minutes). Once dissolved, remove from heat and add vanilla extract and cinnamon. Stir well and allow to cool completely before using.
Brew Your Espresso
  1. Prepare 2 shots of espresso using an espresso machine. If using alternative brewing methods, prepare 4 ounces of strong coffee or cold brew concentrate. Allow the espresso to cool slightly (30-60 seconds) for optimal shaking results.
The Signature Shake
  1. Fill your cocktail shaker or mason jar halfway with ice. Pour in the hot espresso. Add 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) of your prepared brown sugar syrup. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
Assemble Your Drink
  1. Fill a 16oz glass ¾ full with ice. Strain the shaken espresso mixture into the glass. Slowly pour the oat milk over the espresso mixture, allowing it to cascade through the espresso for that beautiful layered effect. Sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon if desired.
