Ingredients
Method
- Roll the lime firmly on the counter with your palm for a few seconds to release the juices.
- Cut the lime in half and squeeze 1-2 teaspoons of fresh lime juice into a tall glass.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the chilled Diet Coke over the ice.
- Add a small pinch of lime zest if desired.
- Stir gently to combine without losing carbonation.
- Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and serve immediately.
Notes
- Start with 1 teaspoon of lime juice and add more to taste—it's easier to add more than to fix an over-limed drink
- Fresh lime juice tastes significantly better than bottled, but bottled works in a pinch (use about 1½ teaspoons)
- For best results, make sure both the Diet Coke and lime are well chilled before mixing
- Stir gently to preserve carbonation
- Can substitute Coke Zero or other diet sodas if Diet Coke isn't available
- For a sweeter version, add a single drop of simple syrup or agave nectar
