Ingredients

  • 2 oz Blanco Tequila high-quality, smooth tequila like Patrón, Casamigos, or Don Julio
  • 1 oz Triple Sec or Orange Liqueur Cointreau or Grand Marnier recommended
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice freshly squeezed, not bottled
  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup made from equal parts sugar and water
  • 1 pinch Sea Salt optional
  • as needed Ice Cubes or Crushed Ice
For Garnish
  • 1 Lime Wheel or Wedge
  • as needed Salt or Tajín for rimming glass

Equipment

  • cocktail shaker or mason jar
  • measuring spoons

Method

Prepare Your Glass
  1. Rim your margarita glass with salt or Tajín by rubbing a lime wedge along the edge and dipping the rim into your salt or spice blend. Set the glass aside while you mix the drink.
Combine the Ingredients in a Shaker
  1. Add tequila, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice into a cocktail shaker. The proportions of lime juice and syrup allow you to achieve the zesty sweetness reminiscent of Cutwater Lime Margarita.
Shake it Well
  1. Shake the cocktail vigorously for 15–20 seconds to chill the ingredients and blend the flavors thoroughly.
Pour and Serve
  1. Strain the mixture into your prepared glass over fresh ice. If using crushed ice, fill your glass first and pour the cocktail over it.
Garnish & Enjoy
  1. Add a lime wheel or wedge for visual appeal and freshness. You can also sprinkle a tiny bit of salt into the drink if you didn't rim the glass!
