Ingredients

  • 2 shots blonde espresso or light roast espresso about 2 oz; if unavailable use regular espresso
  • 3 tablespoons strawberry puree or strawberry sauce homemade or store-bought strawberry syrup works too
  • 8-10 oz 2% milk or milk of choice whole milk, oat milk, or almond milk all work well
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla syrup optional, adds subtle sweetness
  • 1-2 teaspoons honey or simple syrup adjust to taste preference
  • ice cubes as needed ice for iced version; omit for hot
For Topping
  • 2-3 tablespoons whipped cream optional garnish
  • 1 pinch freeze-dried strawberries optional garnish for authenticity

Equipment

  • cocktail shaker or mason jar
  • measuring spoons

Method

  1. Brew 2 shots of blonde espresso (or regular espresso if blonde is unavailable) into a cup or shaker. If using cold brew, use 2 oz of concentrated cold brew instead.
  2. Add 3 tablespoons of strawberry puree or strawberry sauce to the bottom of your serving glass. If using syrup, you may need to adjust to 2-3 tablespoons depending on thickness and desired sweetness.
  3. Pour the hot espresso shots over the strawberry puree and stir well to combine, breaking up any clumps and creating a smooth strawberry-espresso base.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla syrup and 1-2 teaspoons of honey to the mixture, stirring until fully dissolved and sweetened to your preference.
  5. Fill your glass with ice cubes (for iced version) or skip ice for a hot drink. Pour 8-10 oz of cold or steamed milk over the espresso mixture, stirring gently to combine all ingredients.
  6. Top with whipped cream and a pinch of freeze-dried strawberries if desired. Stir before drinking to ensure the strawberry flavor is evenly distributed throughout.
