Ingredients

Fresh Lemonade Base
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 cups cold water
Cherry Berry Syrup
  • 1 cup pitted cherries fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup blueberries fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup cranberries fresh or frozen, or use cranberry juice if not available
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
For Garnish
  • mint leaves optional
  • lemon slices optional
  • ice cubes

Equipment

  • cocktail shaker or mason jar
  • measuring spoons

Method

Make the Lemonade Base
  1. In a pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add the cold water, stirring until well mixed. Adjust sweetness to taste if necessary, by adding more sugar or lemon juice.
Prepare the Cherry Berry Syrup
  1. In a saucepan, combine cherries, blueberries, cranberries, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat. Stir occasionally to ensure the sugar dissolves evenly. Simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the fruit softens and releases its juices. Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the syrup into a bowl, pressing gently on the fruit to extract as much flavor as possible. Discard the solids. Allow the syrup to cool completely.
Mix the Drink
  1. Once the syrup is cooled, add it to the lemonade base in the pitcher. Stir well to combine. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least an hour, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Serve
  1. Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the Cherry Berry Lemonade over the ice. Garnish with mint leaves and lemon slices if desired.
