Prepare Your Coffee
- Brew a strong cup of coffee and let it cool completely in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or make it the night before. For the best flavor that mimics Starbucks, use a medium or dark roast coffee. If you're in a hurry, add a few ice cubes to hot coffee to cool it down quickly, then compensate by using fewer ice cubes in the final blend.
Prepare Your Blender
- Make sure your blender is completely dry before adding ingredients. This might seem minor, but extra water can dilute your frappuccino and create an icy rather than creamy texture. A high-powered blender works best, but any blender can create a delicious result with the right technique.
Combine Ingredients
- Add cooled coffee, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce to the blender. Pro tip: add ingredients in this order for the smoothest blend. For extra indulgence, drizzle a bit of caramel sauce around the inside of your serving glass before pouring.
Add Ice and Blend
- Add ice cubes and blend on high speed until smooth and creamy, approximately 30-45 seconds. The perfect frappuccino consistency should be smooth but thick enough that it doesn't immediately pour when you tilt the blender. If it's too thick, add a splash more milk; if too thin, add a few more ice cubes.
Garnish and Serve
- Pour the frappuccino into a tall glass. Top with whipped cream and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top. For an authentic Starbucks presentation, use a squeeze bottle for the caramel to create those perfect drizzle lines. Serve immediately with a straw for the full café experience.
